Terms & Conditions

How asking for a seat and paying works, your right to cancel, how courses run, who owns the materials and your code, and where our promises end.

Last updated 7 November 2026

§ 1

Who you're agreeing with

These terms apply to bitwright.org and to every course you take with us. The agreement is between you and BITWRITE RESEARCH LIMITED, a private limited company registered in England and Wales under company number 17566167, with its registered office at 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom. The company trades as Bitwrite. Here, “we”, “us” and “Bitwrite” all mean that company, and “you” means the person taking the course.

You accept these terms when you ask for a seat, pay for a course or join a live session. If you can’t accept them, please don’t enrol, and if one clause in particular gives you pause, email us and say which.

Bitwrite is an independent school. It isn't affiliated with or endorsed by the Go project, Google, the Rust Foundation or any project it teaches.

§ 2

Who can take a course

  • You must be 18 or over.
  • The details on your form must be accurate. We arrange the intro call and send session links to the email address and phone number you give us, so a typo can mean you miss both.
  • Each seat belongs to one named person. That stays true when an employer pays: the seat can’t be shared with a colleague or passed to someone else partway through a course.

§ 3

Asking for a seat, and paying for it

The form on this site sends us a request. It isn’t an order, it doesn’t create a contract, and sending it costs nothing.

  • We reply within one working day to arrange a call of about thirty minutes with the tutor.
  • If you and the tutor agree the course is right for you, we email a private payment link in pounds sterling, or an invoice if your employer is paying. Prices include any VAT that applies, and we hold your seat for seven days while payment is outstanding.
  • The contract is made once your payment clears and we have confirmed the course dates, session times and syllabus to you in writing.
  • Prices on this site may change, but the price we confirm to you in writing is the price you pay for that course.

§ 4

Your right to cancel

If you are buying as a consumer, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 give you 14 days from the day the contract is made to cancel it, without giving a reason. If you ask us to start the course inside those 14 days and then cancel, the law would ordinarily let us keep a fair amount for the part already taught.

We choose not to. Our refund policy returns the full fee if you tell us within 30 days of your course’s first live session, which covers the statutory period and runs well past it. The refund policy forms part of these terms, and it applies in the same way when an employer has paid.

§ 5

How a course runs

Courses are taught live over video to a fixed timetable: 2 sessions a week of about 90 minutes each, with no more than 8 people on a course. Times are given in UK time. We record every session and share the recordings with the people on that course.

  • If illness or an emergency forces us to move a session, we tell you as early as we can and teach it at another time.
  • If too few people enrol for a course to run well, we may postpone it, and you can then move to the next run or take a full refund.
  • We don’t guarantee a particular tutor. If we need to change tutors, the replacement will have comparable experience.
  • You’ll need a reasonably recent computer that can run the Go or Rust toolchain, a steady internet connection and a microphone. If a course needs a paid tool or account, its catalogue entry says so before you pay.

§ 6

How we treat each other

People learn fastest when they can ask a half-formed question without being judged for it. We expect everyone to be courteous, and we will remove anyone who harasses, threatens or keeps disrupting a session.

  • Don’t record, screenshot or share a session without our written permission. Other people appear in it.
  • Don’t share your session links or your login details.
  • Keep to yourself anything you learn about another person’s employer, product or codebase.

If we remove you for serious misconduct, your access ends and no refund is due for the rest of the course. We treat that as a last resort, and we will warn you plainly before it comes to that.

§ 7

Who owns what

The slides, exercises, recordings, starter code and notes we provide belong to BITWRITE RESEARCH LIMITED. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use them for your own learning, including in your job, for as long as we make them available to you.

That licence doesn’t extend to reselling or republishing the materials, using them to train an AI model, or using them to run a course that competes with ours. Framework and package source code we read together in a session stays under its own open-source licence.

Your code is yours. We claim no rights in anything you build, during a course or after it.

§ 8

What we promise, and what we can't

We teach with reasonable care and skill, as the Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires, and we deliver what the course description and our written confirmation describe. If we fall short, tell us: we will put it right, or refund what is fair if we can’t.

We can’t promise you a job, a promotion, a pay rise, a passed interview or a fix for a particular problem in your own application. The courses are educational. They are not professional advice on security, data protection or anything else, and you remain responsible for what you deploy to production.

If you are a consumer, we are responsible for loss you suffer that was a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill, but not for loss that wasn’t foreseeable. If you are buying for a business, our total liability for any claim relating to a course is limited to the fee paid for it, and we are not liable for loss of profit, business or data.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law of England and Wales doesn’t allow us to limit, and nothing here takes away your statutory rights as a consumer.

§ 9

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts will hear any dispute. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts. Before any of that, we’d far rather sort a problem out by email.

§ 10

Changes to these terms

We revise these terms from time to time, and the date at the top of the page tells you which version applies. If a change materially affects a course you’ve already enrolled on, we’ll email you about it rather than expect you to spot it here.
